This is the bottle most people find us for. A dog or a cat has had an accident, the patch has been cleaned, it looked fine for a week, and then on a humid day the smell is back. This page explains what is actually happening in the carpet and what the Yellow bottle does about it.
What the smell actually is
Urine odour comes from uric-acid crystals. When wee dries, those crystals stay behind in the carpet backing, the grout, the floorboard join, wherever the liquid went. Water and soap can lift the surface and leave the crystals where they are. Then moisture in the air reactivates them, which is why the smell comes and goes with the weather, and why a patch that seemed sorted starts again.
It is also why a dog keeps going back to the same spot. He is not being stubborn. He can still smell it.
How the Yellow bottle works
Yellow is a natural multi-enzyme formula with a high enzyme concentration. The enzymes break the uric-acid crystals themselves down, so the source of the smell is gone rather than covered with fragrance. When the area dries, there is nothing left to reactivate. It finishes with a light, fresh scent, not a perfume.
It works on cat, dog and human urine. We make a dog version and a cat version. The liquid is the same. The label and the instructions are written for each animal.
Where to use it
- Carpet and rugs, including the backing underneath
- Upholstery and pet bedding
- Sealed hard floors, hardwood and outdoor floors
- Around the litter tray, and anywhere a cat has gone beside it
How to use it
- Shake well.
- Spray liberally on the affected area. Enough to reach as deep as the wee went.
- For strong odours, let it stand 5 to 10 minutes, then wipe down with a microfibre cloth.
- Let it dry, then do the honest test: sniff again.
Fresh accidents usually take one application. Older, soaked-in spots may need a good saturation and a second pass. We would rather tell you that than over-promise.
If you run it through a carpet machine, use warm water, not hot. Enzymes are proteins and heat stops them working.
What it is made without
Yellow is pH neutral, non-corrosive and soap-free, with plant-based enzymes and biodegradable surfactants. No bleach, phosphates or chlorine, and no harsh chemical perfume. Safe around pets and family when used as directed.
What it won't do
Yellow is a urine specialist. For vomit, mud, food and drool ground into the fibres, use the Purple bottle. For a room that is clean and still smells, use the Pink bottle. Each one does a different job, and we would rather you have the right bottle for yours.
Where it fits
Yellow is Step 1 of our 3-Step System. The Yellow label destroys the wee, the Purple label lifts deep messes out of the fibres, and the Pink label clears lingering smell from the air. Each works alone. Together they are the complete clean.
